Does my web developer need to be local? No. In fact, many of Studio 16's customers are located in cities other than Sarasota, Florida. The Internet provides the perfect mechanism to support remote development and management of web sites. How much does a web site cost and how long does it take to complete one? Studio 16 web sites begin around $1,500, which includes domain name registration, web site design and development, marketing consultation services, and search engine submittal; the final cost will depend on the complexity of the site and additional optional services. Payment plans are available. It can take anywhere from one week to several months to get your site "live" on the Internet, but the real answer is, a web site should never be "complete." We encourage our customers to make updates on a monthly basis and offer a management/maintenance plan for $135/mo. which includes the hosting fee, technical updates, email, site statistics, search engine monitoring, and minor content updates. Major additions/changes to your web site are billed at our hourly rate and we always provide a written estimate of cost before beginning a project. Why shouldn't I just get a "free" web site or have my nephew build it for me? Anyone can build a web site, including your nephew they probably understand technology, but do they understand your business and how to promote it? The advantages you receive from Studio 16 include hands-on assistance in marketing your business, our expertise in effective web site design, and continued professional and prompt management of your web site. I already have a web site but it isn't being maintained. Can Studio 16 take over the maintenance? Yes. You will need to provide your account and password information; you can keep your web site with its current server host or we can move it to one of our partner hosting companies. There is a nominal fee to move your web site, and a regular monthly management/maintenance plan would apply. If I want to change my site to one of Studio 16's web hosts, can I do this and will my site be down during the transfer. Once you give authorization, Studio 16 can handle the changeover to a new host. During the changeover period of time, we load your site to the new host so there is no "down time" and the transition is seamless. Will my URL be listed first on the search engines? Studio 16 includes the necessary components to your web site to optimize the ranking in the different search engines and regularly checks on the ranking in the major search engines, but it is hard to guarantee that your web site will be the first listing on a particular search. Although search engines are an important part, more important to your business is getting people to find your web site through advertising, direct mail and networking. Our own studies show that less than 25% of visitors to even the most successful web sites come from search engines. Studio 16 includes ongoing marketing consultation services for all of our customers. Do I need to stay involved once the web site is done? Yes, it is extremely important for the success of your web site that you maintain a time commitment to keeping your site current and staying in touch daily with the visitors to your site. Updating the information on your web site, reading and responding to email, and taking time to listen to what your visitors want is an integral part of any web site's success.
